May 21, 2014
Greetings!

Our Book of Common Prayer calls for four dates throughout the year which are especially appropriate for the celebration of Holy Baptism. The next of those four dates falls on the Feast of Pentecost, June 8, in recognition of the 3000 people who were baptized on that Pentecost when the tongues of fire descended all the apostles (Acts 2:37-41).

Baptisms on Pentecost are a visible reminder that we are connected to that same great story of the transformative power of God in our lives. If you, or someone you know, would like to be baptized on Pentecost, speak with me as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made. Plan to be present that day as God continues to transform us day-by-day.

Sanctuary Preservation and Readiness Town Hall Generated Great Interest, Ideas
Last Sunday, more than 100 parishioners gathered at the conclusion of the 10 a.m. service to hear a presentation about the status of efforts to prepare our Sanctuary for its next 100 years.  Senior Warden Chip Nichols gave a complete recap of actions taken by the Vestry over the past six months to define the project elements and to lay the groundwork to raise the needed funds to carry it all out.  Father Bob gave a stirring commentary on the importance of the project.  In addition, an animated rendering of the proposed communion rail change was shown.  You can see it by clicking here.

Acclaimed Author, Theologian Diana Butler-Bass to Speak, Preach at All Saints!

On Saturday, June 14, internationally-renowned theologian Diana Butler Bass will visit All Saints-by-the-Sea to explore recent trends in religion and spirituality that are challenging traditional institutions and opening the way for new patterns of faith.

Instead of doom and gloom, she finds much to cheer in the changing face of American religious life - and will argue that churches, synagogues and other faith communities need to open their hearts and minds to embrace a hope- filled future. Diana will return to All Saints the following day to preach at both the 8 and 10 a.m. services.  For fee and sign-up information, just click below.
